“Boost the ‘Boro” Initiates First Revitalization Project
Work has begun at 107 West Seaboard Street (vacant lot beside Dakota Lynn’s Clothing) on BTB’s first ever beautification project. The owner, Mr. Cecil Lewis, has allowed the use of this property to create a walkway from the Town’s Parking Area to the sidewalk on West Seaboard Street. When completed, this will allow the businesses in the area easy access to the parking area as well as creating a visually appealing space.
With assistance from the Town’s Maintenance Department and labor provided by the North Carolina Department of Corrections, the first phase of the project has been completed. The site has been leveled and cleared of debris and sod grass was installed along the borders. Super Sod, Town Manager Delane Jackson and Commissioner David Hales donated the sod for the project thereby completing this phase at no cost to the organization.
The next phase of the project will consist of building a walkway, adding additional landscaping and erecting a protective barrier to restrict the site to pedestrian traffic. Hopefully we will be blessed with donations for this portion of the project in the form of labor, materials or expertise in any of these areas.
The third and final phase of the project will be to refinish the walls of the adjacent buildings and possibly add some area lighting.
We anxiously await the completion of this project not only to beautify a portion of our town, but also, so that we can begin a similar project elsewhere.

I’m excited about the completion of this project! Boost the ‘Boro wants to see Bladenboro revived and a thriving town. A town that, at the least, provides the staples and needs so that we don’t need to travel far to shop, and a town that provides opportunities for our children to grow and develop, and as adults can seek employment locally - not having to relocate away just to survive!
